Racquet manufacturers can only set an average of specs on a frame. They cannot exactly fit all the players; it is just close to what the individual can accept.

The perfect racquet for you!

Each player has an individual style of play so each racquet needs to be made personal for that player. I do that personalisation for you! I maximize the racquet potential so that you never have to adapt!

We know everything about your racquet!

I run precise diagnostics and testing on all specs of your racquet with the most sophisticated multi task diagnostic equipments. I know what’s best for you and your game!

We are recognized as customisation specialists!

My workshop is globally recognised as one of the few specialised in racquet customisation in Melbourne.

I can customise the racquets of the most demanding professional players and the racquets of tennis enthusiasts alike. Why not yours?

What we offer to you!

I transfer my know-how to you by strategically choose information “cut at your exact needs” from thousands of racquets I came across during all these years, to your own racquet!

By improving your game, I also help you out to reduce the occurrence of arm and shoulder injuries.

Why not just buy another racquet?

In comparison to a stock form racquet with exactly the same specs, a customised racquet will perform outstandingly better due to the fact that the weight is distributed at key places!

Pros are aware of this and initially choose lighter frames having them customised to their personal liking afterwards.

We take a lot of pride in our craft and will work with you to find the right string set-up for you and your game. Consistency is the key. We take care to insure that every string job is the same time after time.

We also take customisation to another level by altering the weight, the swingweight, the handle shape and size and even the length to fit the needs of the player. Most players can benefit from customisation of the swingweight of their racquet. We work with you to determine that each and every aspect of the racquet is optimal for your game and your style of play.

Matched racquets will play and feel identical. Weight will be matched within 0.5 grams. Balance will be matched exactly to the millimeter. Swingweight to the exact kg/cm2.

With over 23 years of experience in stringing and customising tennis racquets at some major tournaments in Europe, we provide complete racquet care services with a specialty in custom restringing.

Custom stringing means your racquet is set up in a way that allows to maximize your ability on the court.

With more than 100K racquets strung to date, proper racquet stringing is a crucial part of our service. Too often people spend money on a racquet but then have it strung incorrectly.

Choosing the best string and tension for your racquet and style of play is essential. If you don’t already know what set up works best for you, we can help you decide.
We’ll discuss it with you and provide recommendations. It will take a little trial and error to find what works best, but once you find the right combination, it will be worth the effort.

Once the ideal string and tension have been discovered, you can be absolutely certain that our high standards of excellence will enable us to offer the same results every time you give us your racquet to be restrung.

You can rest assured knowing that we use 2 state-of-the-art, fully calibrated stringing machines: Wilson Baiardo as used at the Australian Open and U.S. Open and Xtreme Pro Master GT stringing machine as used at the Brisbane International ATP tournament.

When it comes to restringing, the basic rule of thumb still applies: a player should restring as many times each year as the hours he or she plays each week.
You don’t have to wait until your strings break to restring. Over time, your strings lose tension and their ability to stretch (elasticity) and their ability to recoil (resiliency).
It would be best to control the tension of the strings regularly and restring each time the racquet loses 20 to 30 percent of its fresh strung value. If not, it can seriously affect your game or create problems with your elbow, wrist or shoulder.

If you play:

We recommend to restring:

More than 3 times a week

Every month

1 time per week

Every 3 months

Less than 1 time per week

Every 6 months

We take note of the method we use to string your racquet very carefully, and use the same technique in subsequent jobs… free of charge!

SOME USEFUL HINTS ON TENNIS STRINGS

Establish a relationship with your stringer and seek advice on finding the best string and tension for your game.

When customising your racquets, only change one variable at a time. For instance, when changing string, string at the same tension. Keeping the tension the same will give you a reference point to work from.

Keep a court log of the hours of good playability from a string. Note the conditions and how long the string lasts before playability starts to drop-off. If you are using a synthetic string and find playability is best right before the string breaks, then you are probably stringing too tight.

As long as you don’t break strings too often, use a thin string gauge for added playability.

Try natural gut strings, even if it comprises only half of a hybrid string job. You might love the extra feel you get from gut.

Play with the loosest string tension you can still control. The more power the better.

Almost all professional players play with a racquet you can buy in any store, with one exception: their racquets are customised to their specifications.

This means that the weight, balance and swingweight have been modified to meet their own style of play. Even if you are not a professional player, your game can benefit from customisation.

Nowadays, racquets are generally light and can benefit from a little added weight. Players should use the heaviest racquet they can comfortably handle.

However, simply adding weight to the frame is not a good idea. A little weight in the wrong place can significantly alter the feel and performance of the racquet.
We will talk to you about your game and style of play.
We will examine the wear pattern on your strings which tells us where you are making contact with the ball. Once this has been determined, a small amount of weight in key areas will be added, taking care to maintain the racquet stable and balanced. Then we will ask you to play and come back to us with your feedback. The process will continue until the racquet is perfectly weighted and balanced for you. We use a professional Xtreme Dyno Tune machine to help our clients choose the best set up for their frames and game.

We will then record the weight and swingweight of your racquet .
Once the ideal weight and swingweight is found, you must have all of your racquets matched.

If you own just two racquets or a dozen, it is important that they are all consistent. This means that the weight and swingweight are exactly the same on each frame.

When you buy two frames, tolerance allows a difference in weight up to 15 grams.
Maybe it does not seem much, but it makes an extreme difference in overall performance of the racquet even for the casual player.

We will ensure that the racquets in your bag will have the same weight and swingweight consistently.

My name is Stefano Prete. I am a professional, full-time tennis stringer and customizer.
Based in Moonee Ponds, northern suburbs of Melbourne, I string over 3000 racquets a year.

I’m a member of the United States Racquet Stringers Association, the European Racquet Stringers Association and the UK Racquet Stringers Association, and I am one of only a handful of stringers to obtain the USRSA Master Racquet Technician and ERSA Pro Tour Stringer qualifications, the highest stringing qualification there is. This means that I have passed an extensive examination process and satisfied experience requirements to earn the highest designations. There are only 9 USRSA MRTs and only 5 ERSA MRTs in Australia. There are also about 35 ERSA Pro Tour Stringers in the world.

I’ve strung at tournaments throughout Europe.

I provide all my customers with the same level of quality and service as I give to professional players. It is my belief that all players are entitled to have their racquets strung to the highest standard, regardless of their status within the sport.

All restrings are carried out on my Xtreme Pro Master GT or Wilson Baiardo electronic stringing machines, as used at the Australian Open, U.S. Open, Brisbane International ATP-WTA tournaments, assuring you of perfect tension every time. This machines are probably the best in the world and give unequalled accuracy and consistency.

Whatever your level of play or coaching, I can provide a personal racquet stringing service tailored to your needs.
I aim to give a very high level of workmanship to local players.

Whether your racquet needs a 2-piece string job, an ATW, a 50/50 or a box pattern, I got you covered.

There are 100′s of strings on the market today.
I stock a wide range of strings and grips, catering for most playing styles / string specifications, but I can always get your favourite string within 24 hours from our suppliers if it is not in stock.

I string for many players and coaches, many of whom like me to use their own string, which I’m happy to do.
I will always carefully check your frame and advise you of any damage or recommend if you need new grommets or bumper strips – both of which I can supply and fit.

The fact that you are dealing directly with the stringer means that my prices are substantially less than normal retail prices. Most importantly, your racquets will be consistently strung the way you want.

I have a quick turnaround time on restringing and also offer same day service. I aim to get all racquets restrung within 24hrs, although sometimes the turnaround time may be slightly increased.

I can also sometimes provide a “while you wait” service but please telephone first to check.
